The PGA of America saw Hunter Mahan's quote and said, hold my beer. We got a double dose of random daggers this week! 

As Golf Digest reporter Greg Gottfried writes, the PGA of America released a media report with helpful and fun facts/stats to support writers. <Checks spam folder just in case> Nope, didn't make that list, yet.
 
Most of it is crazy specific statistical quirks, but tucked into the report was a line that for no reason at all unleashed on a few MLB teams.
 
The line?

Rory McIlroy has three wins in eight starts this season (since January 1st). That is a higher winning percentage (.375) than the White Sox, Pirates and Rockies in Major League Baseball (as of Monday 5/11).

 
My mind then asks the question, what team would this stat nerd most likely follow to warrant such a vicious takedown... and off to ChatGPT I go.

Beep-boop-beep. (Side note, I make this noise with my son Jack when I fire up "Jack's Dream Machine" aka a Dall-E prompt chain where I ask him to fill in a Mad Libs style prompt and then fire it off into Dall-E to create custom illustrations of whatever his mind invents. It's an INCREDIBLE way to spend a quick 15-30 minutes and he loses his mind over how cool it is. Spoiler alert, we see a LOT of robot animals opening birthday presents.)

And the answer is... a Chicago Cubs fan! Fun.

TRADEMARK SLEUTHS AT IT AGAIN

If Tiger Woods files a trademark and no one spies on it to leak to the news, was it ever filed?

Who are these trademark titans scrolling through different filings looking for a scoop? Whoever they are, they've struck gold again as TGL Holdings LLC officially trademarked the name Motor City Golf Club.

News for past few weeks has been that TGL would be adding franchises and likely introducing a women's league/team/players into the mix for next season.

I had hoped the new franchise would be Dallas, Scottsdale, or Chicago—but I definitely did not have Detroit in my short list.

 

Wags is really hitting his stride.

Johnson Wagner is EVERYWHERE on my social feeds now. 

I know he's been around and reporting for some time, but this hook he's got around re-creating famous and important shots from Tour history is so simple and so genius.

It's one of those things that I get so irrationally angry that I didn't think of myself. He's now built in for himself a reason to play all the best courses in the world while also shamelessly attempting insanely hard shots.

If he blades one into the grand stands? No problem, he's an every guy like us. If he drains Tiger's iconic 2000 at Valhalla PGA? He's a hero.

Does it get me so pumped to actually watch Golf Channel? Not quite—but I'll watch the clips! And that has to mean something to a social media manager somewhere, right?
